A 50-year-old man was injured in an accidental shooting in Bolivar Tuesday night while attempting to remove a laser from a firearm, according to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff’s Office.

Detective Captain Adam Fisher said the man, who is unfamiliar with firearms, was handling the weapon at approximately 9 p.m. in the 300 block of Edgebrook Road NE when it discharged, striking him in the hand.

The man was transported to Mercy Hospital for treatment of his injury. No one else was harmed in the incident, Fisher said.
