Fire Danger Level will increase to Extreme on Tueday, July 9, 2024
The fire danger level within the City of Grants Pass will increase to “EXTREME” (red) on Tuesday, July 9, 2023, at 12:01 a.m. Due to dry vegetation, hot conditions, and numerous active fires in the region, the fire danger level on lands protected by the Oregon Department of Forestry in Jackson and Josephine counties will increase to “extreme” (red) at 12:01 a.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024. These regulations impact 1.8 million acres of state, private, county, city and Bureau of Land Management lands protected by ODF’s Southwest Oregon District. The Industrial Fire Precaution Level (IFPL) will remain at two (2).
Power outages hit Josephine County
Newswatch 12's Rocky Walker talked to residents in the Rogue River area about power outages in the heat. Power restored for more than 800 people in Rogue River. 869 people are currently without power in Rogue River. Crews have been notified of the cause of the outage is under investigation. The outage was first reported at 1:06 p.m. and power is expected to be restored before 4:30 p.m.
