LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- City officials urge those planning to travel through downtown Saturday for Purdue's home football opener against Indiana State University to plan ahead because of some street closures.

Travel will be restricted for the north- and southbound lanes on 9 th Street between Columbia and Ferry streets. A section of 9 th Street will be closed through Saturday, according to a news release, to relocate overhead utility lines and install underground conduits.

Main Street will remain open with some temporary closures.

There is a detour route, so please watch for signage and flaggers in the area or seek an alternative route. Main Street will remain open with temporary closures.

Kickoff for Saturday's game is set for noon at Ross-Ade Stadium.
