Lafayette Big Lots store marked for closure in latest list after bankruptcy

LAFAYETTE, Ind. — The number of Big Lots stores facing closures amid the retailer's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing back in September continues to grow, with Lafayette's lone store added to the latest list.

In an Oct. 4 filing , the retailer named 46 additional stores marked to shutter, with Lafayette's 2040 S. 22nd St. store on the list. The Lafayette location is the only new Indiana store closure from the recent list.

Store closures for the chain form part of a sale agreement with an affiliate of Nexus Capital Management LP, according to a news release from Big Lots. The company also has filed motions in court seeking approval to continue to pay employees and benefits as well as payments to certain crucial vendors to continue business as usual.
