After plenty of solid postseason spring sports performances over the last week, here are the Journal Star high school athlete of the week nominees for May 13-18.

Cole Noreuil, Delavan baseball
Noreuil did a little bit of everything for Delavan in its run to a Class 1A regional championship last week. The senior pitcher/third baseman was a part of a combined no-hitter in a 6-0 win over Havana on Saturday. Noreuil struck out 17 in 5.2 innings, while giving up one walk and no hits. His week at the plate was equally impressive, hitting .800 with four runs, three RBIs and two walks in a pair of postseason victories.
Sutton Centoni, Dunlap softball
Centoni was lights-out in four wins last week, beating Washington, Metamora, East Peoria and Morton in four successive days. The sophomore pitcher ended her week by throwing a five-hitter with 13 strikeouts to beat Morton, 8-3, on Saturday. In completing a rain-delayed game against East Peoria on Friday, she struck out 22 and scattered six hits as the Eagles won, 3-2, in the 13th. Centoni also tossed a one-hitter against Metamora with 11 strikeouts and one walk for a 2-0 victory on Thursday. Her week started with 12 strikeouts and three hits to beat Washington, 9-2, last Wednesday. Dunlap also wrapped up a share of its first-ever Mid-Illini Conference title with Metamora and East Peoria, finishing 12-2. On the season, Centoni is 15-3 with 216 strikeouts and a 0.81 ERA in 113 innings.
Delaney Reynolds, Richwoods girls soccer
Reynolds turned in a pair of memorable Class 2A regional matches last week. The freshman goalkeeper helped give Richwoods its first regional championship since 2008 with a penalty kick victory over Dunlap. Reynolds had four straight saves in PKs, including the match-tying attempt in the sudden death portion. She also posted three saves during the regulation and overtime periods. Her week began with a shutout Tuesday against East Peoria in a 9-0 victory.
Kaleb Brickner, Peoria Christian boys track and field
Brickner heads to the Class 1A boys track and field state meet as a two-event qualifier. The senior won the 300-meter hurdles in 42.48 seconds, giving him a personal best at last Thursday's Deer Creek-Mackinaw Sectional. He also posted another personal best by taking home the triple jump title in 40 feet, 11 inches, distancing himself from the runner-up by 15 inches.
Mya Strahm, Elmwood/Brimfield girls track and field
Strahm put herself into the IHSA record books with Saturday's performance at the Class 1A girls track and field state meet. The Brimfield junior won her second successive state title in the pole vault, clearing 14 feet, 1.25 inches. That height not only set the new 1A state record, but also gave the Tennessee recruit the all-class, all-time IHSA mark. Her height is ranked third in the nation for 2024 high school outdoor meets.
Hudson Shaw and Tommy Sopko, Metamora boys tennis
The Redbird duo helped capture the program's sixth consecutive sectional on Saturday. Top-seeded Shaw and Sopko won the doubles title by defeating LaSalle-Peru's second-seed Andrew Bollis and Danny Santoy, 6-1, 6-3. Metamora won the Class 1A sectional title at L-P with 28 points, beating Princeton (19 points) and Morris (18).
Kai Adhanom-Shipman, Dunlap co-op boys lacrosse
Adhanom-Shipman wrapped up his season with a great final game. The Richwoods senior scored four goals and added four assists as the Dunlap lost in sectionals to Oak Forest, 13-10, on Saturday. Dunlap co-ops with Illinois Valley Central, Peoria High, Manual and Richwoods.
