    Peoria woman killed in two-vehicle crash, coroner says

    A Peoria woman was killed On Aug. 16 following a two-vehicle crash west of Kewanee.

    Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood said that Cassie Boorn, 37, was pronounced dead at 7:55 p.m. at OSF HealthCare Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria after sustaining serious injuries in a crash at the intersection of Henry County Highway 5 and North 500th Avenue west of the city.

    Harwood said that at 3:15 p.m., police, fire and EMS in the area were called to the scene after a report of a two-vehicle crash with serious injuries. Boorn was was transported to St. Francis in critical condition, where she was later pronounced dead. An autopsy revealed that Boorn died of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

    Harwood said that toxicology for Boorn remains pending. The Henry County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate what led to the crash.
