Woman's vehicle stolen during armed carjacking near Downtown Peoria

The Peoria Police Department is investigating a carjacking early Monday morning in which a pair of men reportedly took a woman's car north of Downtown Peoria.

Police said that at 12:14 a.m., they were called to the 700 block of Hamilton Boulevard after they received a report of a vehicular hijacking. Upon arrival, officers found a woman who told them that a pair of men, one with a firearm approached her car.

The men took the vehicle and drive away. The woman was not injured.

Shortly after interviewing the woman, police found the vehicle in the 200 block of North Sand Street. When they arrived, a pair of men were observed leaving the vehicle and fled the scene. Officers attempted to give chase, but were unable to find them.
