Fort Riley's Trooper gate to remain closed

    By Staff reports,

One of Fort Riley’s main access gates from Junction City will remain closed indefinitely.

Fort Riley officials on Thursday announced that Trooper Access Control Point, which enters the southwest part of Fort Riley from Washington Street in Junction City, will not reopen for now after it shut down for road reconstruction.

The Grant Access Control Point still is open to ingoing and outgoing traffic and allows entry to Fort Riley from the south via Grant Street in Junction City. That gate is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

A release from Fort Riley said officials decided not to reopen the Trooper Access Control point “based on military training and personnel requirements.”

Command officials will monitor traffic patterns and flow through all gates in order to reassess the closure in the future.
