Here's hoping the chairs of the J upiter Medical Center Foundation's dinner dance have an 'in' at the hospital's orthopedics department.

They almost certainly pulled a muscle or two hauling out those giant bags of cash they raised.

More Palm Beach society news here.

The 47th annual Black Tie Ball, the hospital's rite of spring, took place March 2 at The Breakers and raised more than $1.2 million.

Joe and Patsy Petri were chairman and chairwoman, respectively, for the dinner dance, which began with a cocktail reception and remarks from Dr. Amit Rastogi and Traci Simonsen.

“Our growth is a direct reflection of our dedication to safety, quality and patient experience, while focusing on expanding the depth and breadth of our clinical services,” said Rastogi, president and CEO of Jupiter Medical Center. “As a result, we are the highest-rated hospital in our region. Our clinical excellence, coupled with your continued support, will ensure world-class care for generations to come.”

“Philanthropy is central to everything we do,” said Simonsen, who is the foundation's chief philanthropy officer. “We are honored to serve you and this community, and we are most grateful for your generous support, which enables us to continue doing more.”

The night continued with dinner, dancing and a live auction that traditionally includes some kind of cute little vehicle with no doors, no roof, a special seatbelt for the dog and no room for kids or grocery bags.

    Basically, the millenial's dream car.

Jeff and LeeAnn Alderton were honorary chairman and honorary chairwoman, respectively.

News anchor Tiffany Kenney was emcee.

The night's proceeds are earmarked for the hospital’s new Patient Care Tower, which is scheduled to open next year.

The five-story, 92-bed tower, with its accompanying 800-spot, five-deck parking garage, will significantly increase the hospital’s 248-bed capacity.
