JUPITER — A Jupiter man who called on social media last week for the murders of former President Donald Trump and his running mate JD Vance may soon be out of jail.

Circuit Judge Cymonie Rowe agreed Wednesday to release Michael M. Wiseman on $5,000 bond if he abides by several conditions. He risks a return to custody if he violates any of them.

Wiseman, 68, will be on house arrest and must wear an electronic monitoring bracelet, according to the court order granting his release. He is banned from using social media or contacting anyone he threatened online.

A psychiatrist will give Wiseman a “comprehensive mental health evaluation” within seven days of his release. Afterward, Wiseman is expected to follow any recommended treatments. He will be subject to random drug tests and is barred from consuming alcohol, drugs or medications not prescribed by his physician.

Wiseman is also not allowed to possess any firearms or lethal weapons. Palm Beach County sheriff's deputies will randomly inspect his home for these weapons, according to the order.

Wiseman, who has no criminal history in Palm Beach County, remained in custody at the Palm Beach County Jail as of Thursday afternoon. His next hearing is tentatively scheduled for September.

Online threats posted days after assassination attempt on former President Trump in Pennsylvania

Jupiter police said several members of the public informed them about the threats that Wiseman had posted on Facebook and Threads on July 17 and 18.

The first came the day Vance, a U.S. senator from Ohio, accepted the GOP nomination for vice president on this year's presidential ticket with Trump. It also was four days after the assassination attempt on Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania.

Police took Wiseman into custody without incident on July 19 outside of his home, when they said Wiseman was aware of the issue regarding the threatening posts and “spoke about it openly.”

The county State Attorney's Office asked the court following Wiseman's arrest to detain him before his case came to trial. In a filing before Rowe, it said there were "no conditions of release reasonably sufficient to protect the community from risk of physical harm."
