The Fox anthology series Accused is back for season two and creators Howard Gordon and Daniel Pearle are opening up about changes that were made.

Each episode is a fast-paced provocative thriller, exploring a different crime, in a different city, with an entirely original cast. Each episode opens in a courtroom on the defendant, with viewers knowing nothing about their crime or how they ended up on trial. Told from the defendant’s point of view through flashbacks, the show holds a mirror up to current times with evocative and emotional stories. In the end, audiences will discover how an ordinary person gets caught up in extraordinary circumstances, and how one impulsive decision can impact the course of that life – and the lives of others — forever.

Every single episode follows a different story with a completely new cast for every episode. While the creators tried to make the first season’s episodes feel connected, they went for a different direction with season two.

“One of the most fun aspects of the show is how different it can be episode to episode in terms of style and the visual world,” Pearle told TheWrap . “We were bolder this year in terms of pushing genre of different episodes.”

“Honestly, we just wanted to be better,” Gordon told TheWrap. “We’re testing the limits.”

Accused has a long list of popular actors who are participating in season two and the creators are opening up about how they got the cast attached.

Gordon says they’ve been getting “incoming calls from some wonderful actors” to be on the show after the success of season one. “Many of them we couldn’t even find the stories because it was a limited order,” he said.

“It is like making a long short film. You really get to have a lot of creative ownership,” Pearle said. “For a lot of these actors, it’s a chance to do something that they haven’t done before.”

Two actors from season one will be playing new roles in season two .
