Joker: Folie a Deux just made more history for a very unfortunate reason.

The movie, which stars Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga as the titular Clown Prince of Crime and Harley Quinn, premiered earlier this month to historically poor reviews for a comic book movie.

It brought in a paltry $40 million domestically in its first week of release with a global haul of $121.1 million.

To break even, the film is estimated to need at least $450 million. However, based on its second week box office, it’s looking like it might not hit the goal.

According to reporting by The Hollywood Reporter , Joker: Folie a Deux suffered an 81% drop at the domestic box office with around $7 million in ticket sales.

The outlet noted that the drop is now the worst on record for a comic book movie in its second week. The Marvels previously held the record with a 78% drop.

Joker ‘s sequel brought in another $22.7 globally, bringing the overall earnings to $165.3 million.

If you were wondering, find out why one of Lady Gaga ‘s scenes was cut from the movie .
