West Siders Can Get $25,000 To Help Recover From July 2023 Flood Damage
AUSTIN — The city has secured another $5 million to help West Side neighbors still recovering from flood damage caused by last summer’s storms. The Flood Assistance Repair Program for 2024 will help up to 200 homeowners — primarily older people — living in single-family or one- to two-unit properties on the West Side. Mayor Brandon Johnson and officials with the Chicago Department of Housing announced the funding Tuesday.

Despite an extensive search of Wilmington and surrounding areas, officers were unable to locate her.

The National Weather Service is confirming that nearly a dozen tornadoes hit Northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana Monday night. Tornadoes touched down from Yorkville to Naperville, Sugar Grove to North Aurora, near Channahon, in the Bristol and Oswego areas, in Justice and Bridgeview, near Crown Point, Indiana, Crest Hill to Lockport, southern Winnebago County, Byron, Davis Junction and multiple locations in Chicago. The funnel clouds caused widespread damage.

PHOENIX (AP) — Phoenix’s Brittney Griner and New York’s Jonquel Jones are among the biggest names participating in the WNBA’s special competitions on Friday during the league’s All-Star weekend. The WNBA also announced the Phoenix Mercury’s first coach and general manager, Cheryl Miller, will coach the WNBA All-Stars on Saturday. The national team will be led by Minnesota Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve. But the league’s Skills Challenge and 3-point Contest won’t include a handful of the league’s most popular players, including Indiana’s Caitlin Clark, Chicago’s Angel Reese and New York’s Sabrina Ionescu. Clark and Ionescu both turned down invitations to participate in the 3-point contest, the WNBA said.
