Bally’s changes hotel location at Chicago casino project
Bally’s Corp. has made some changes to its ambitious 30-acre Chicago casino development, including plans for its hotel. The project is still getting a 500-key hotel. However, in the latest design update, the tower has been moved to sit along the southern end of the future Bally’s Chicago Casino, near Ohio Street along the Chicago River, pending approval by the Chicago Department of Planning & Development, Bally’s detailed in a release. The hotel was moved due to unforeseen underground infrastructure, Bally’s said.

State police grant Brookfield PD $15K for firearm enforcement
The Brookfield Police Department is set to receive nearly $15,000 from the Illinois State Police as part of its third round of firearm enforcement grants. ISP announced July 1 that it will issue $1.5 million in grants for fiscal year 2025 to 21 law enforcement agencies across Illinois, enabling their officers to “conduct enforcement details for individuals legally barred from having a firearm.” Most departments on the list will receive grants in the range of $10,000-$30,000, including Brookfield’s grant worth $14,791.30.
2 arrested after giving police false names, ages during traffic stop
A 27-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman were arrested July 7 in Riverside after a patrolling officer said they noticed their car’s license plates were suspended. Around 5 a.m., the officer was driving south on South Harlem Avenue when they saw a car headed in the same direction “with suspended registration tags.” After pulling the car over near Robinson Road, the officer approached the driver, who gave her name and a 1993 birthdate, police said. When asked for her driver’s license, the woman stated she left hers at home, and she did not provide proof of insurance. The officer also asked the man in the passenger seat for his ID, which he said he did not have before giving his name and a 1998 birthdate.
