Louis Stancil Acting Studios just made a major power move by officially opening its New York City studio, right in the heart of Times Square. This month we highlight Black businesses making a difference in their communities and creating opportunities for Black people to win.
Black business owner Louis Stancil is doing just that. Read more about this major move inside.

On Saturday (Aug. 10), the Louis Stancil Acting Studios grand opening was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the iconic Actors Equity Building in Times Square, followed by a star-studded after-party. Stancil, the visionary 34-year-old founder, was joined by actor Justin Hurtt-Dunkley, known for his roles in “Mare of Easttown” and “Lawmen: Bass Reeves,” to mark this exciting new chapter.

Stancil is not just any acting coach; he’s the mastermind behind one of the few Black-owned brick-and-mortar acting studios in the U.S. His journey began in Baltimore, where his love for acting was ignited by hanging out with friends on the set of “The Wire.” Born to deaf parents, Louis grew up fluent in sign language and proficient in tactile signing, as his mother is also blind. These unique experiences shaped his understanding of human behavior, a skill that has translated into his incredible work in the acting world.

In 2020, Louis took a leap of faith and opened his first acting studio in Atlanta. Since then, his studios have expanded to Los Angeles and now, the Big Apple. Louis Stancil Acting Studios has quickly become a nurturing space for aspiring actors, providing them with a safe, supportive environment to hone their craft.

Louis’s impressive track record speaks for itself. He’s trained big names like Meek Mill, cast members from the Will Smith-produced “Charm City Kings,” and Kandi Burruss. Currently, he’s working with Pretty Vee and rising star Akai Coleman from Netflix’s “SUPACELL,” solidifying his status as a leading figure in the acting community.

Louis Stancil is on a mission to empower the next generation of talent, and with his New York City studio now open, the sky’s the limit.

Congrats! Be sure to follow the studio on social media here .
