Mother rescued two of her children from house fire before dying trying to save 1-year-old, fire officials say
HOUSTON — A mother and her infant son died in a fire in north Houston early Saturday morning, but that mother's last act of courage saved her two other children's lives. The fire started around 4 a.m. at a home on Heaney Drive, which is near Tidwell Road. A 31-year-old mother died in the fire, alongside her 1-year-old son.

HUNTSVILLE, Texas — On Wednesday, Huntsville Police managed to catch three men that were allegedly engaging in organized criminal activity. The men were stopped Highway 45 northbound in Huntsville, and after an officer began to suspect that 28-year-old Marius Iordan, 28-year-old Stefan Patrascanu, and 42-year-old Jesus Mendez were involved in organized crime, had K9 Kyon check the car for narcotics. One of the men ended up running into the woods nearby, and an additional K9 unit--K9 Copper--was tasked with finding him.

Nine pounds of meth seized in Rockdale drug bust
ROCKDALE, Texas — On Thursday, around 11 a.m., the Milam County Sheriff's Office discovered and seized multiple pounds of illegal substances from a home in Rockdale. The search warrant was executed in the 800 block of San Gabriel Street in collaboration with the Bastrop County Sheriff's Office and Rockdale Police Department. In total, 12.5 pounds of illegal narcotics--roughly nine pounds of which were believed to be methamphetamines--were seized.
One arrested, charged following shooting at College Station smoke shop
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Thursday evening, a dispute at a local smoke shop turned into a shooting. According to College Station Police, a verbal argument between one of the store owners of Parallel Smoke Shop--located at 2205 Longmire Drive Suite A.--and a female customer, resulting in the customer being asked to leave the store. After the customer left the store, the store owner, later identified as 40-year-old Ahsan Khan, shot the woman.

SOUTH PADRE ISLAND, Cameron — Park Rangers on the beach in South Padre Island came across a massive amount of cocaine earlier this week, officials said. NAVASOTA, Texas — The city of Navasota has sent out utility crews to Ivy St. Homes in response to a water leak. The leak will affect Ivy St., N. Uvalde junior high student brings gun to school, district says
SAN ANTONIO — A Morales Junior High student in Uvalde will face "disciplinary action" after officials say he brought a handgun to campus and showed it to some students. In a letter sent to Uvalde CISD parents and shared on social media, officials said the weapon "was not used to threaten students." The student in question was taken off the school property after a campus officer was notified of the gun and confiscated it.

Missing Taylor 8-year-old found safe
TAYLOR, Texas — An 8-year-old girl reported missing from Taylor Wednesday night has been found safe. Prior to being found, authorities said the girl had last been seen at around 7:45 p.m. in the area of 5091 FM 973 in Taylor. The Williamson County Sheriff's Office (WCSO) said at around 8:20 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the area to try to find her. All available resources were contacted, and numerous law enforcement agencies attempted to track the using K9s and air support. The search continued Thursday morning.
