An evacuation warning has been issued for the town of Paradise, where residents say the smell of smoke and sight of advancing flames on the horizon is enough to retraumatize them with the same horrors unleashed by California’s deadliest wildfire in 2018, which incinerated much of the town.
Durkee Fire 30% contained, but megafire is already 'huge devastation' for ranchers
BAKER COUNTY, Ore. — On Saturday, wildfires continued to burn across the United State, with the majority concentrated in Oregon, and the largest still the Durkee Fire. Officials say it’s near 290,000 acres in size, with a perimeter of 169 miles. However, crews have made progress, and said it is nearly 30% contained.
WA judge upholds decision to send 43 young adults back to Green Hill
THURSTON COUNTY, Wash. - A Thurston County judge upheld her decision Friday to send 43 young adults back to the Green Hill juvenile facility, despite the state's objections. The judge ruled that the Washington State Department of Youth, Children and Families (DCYF) improperly transferred the residents to the Department of Corrections in violation of an agreement from a previous lawsuit.

Firefighters battle to protect communities as Washington wildfires spread
WASHINGTON — Several large wildfires burning in Washington are growing. At least one wildfire is nearing structures and highway closures are also in effect. The Pioneer Fire on the north shore of Lake Chelan has been burning since June 8th. As of Sunday, July 28, it has grown to 33,277 acres. It has grown by more than 1,300 acres within the last week. The human-caused fire is 10% contained.
