Social Finance launches Hawaiʻi Renewable Learning Fund
Social Finance has announced the launch of the Hawaiʻi Renewable Learning Fund, a sustainable tool that will offer zero-interest higher education loans to local students. The fund, with support from the Honolulu-based Harold K.L. Castle Foundation and other donors, launched a $2.5 million pilot program in partnership with the College of Engineering at the University of Hawai’i. The goal of the fund is to enable low-income students to enroll in and graduate from high-quality certificate and degree programs. It also will help build a pipeline of local skilled talent to fill in-demand jobs across the state. Students who secure positions earning more than $50,000 after graduation will repay their loans back into the fund to support future students.

Live Opossum Captured in Downtown Honolulu
A live opossum was captured outside a downtown office building yesterday morning. An area office worker saw the opossum on a window ledge in the gated doorway outside the Austin Building at 223 S.
