Republican running mate Sen. JD Vance, Ohio, is trying to backtrack on a past remark about women that was widely panned as derogatory and misogynistic. In 2021 during an appearance on former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson's show, Vance claimed that “childless cat ladies” were helming the nation and that they “want to make the rest of the country miserable too." Vance's comment was made in reference to Vice President Kamala Harris who in recent weeks has emerged as the likely contender for the Democratic party's nomination for the 2024 presidential election. "If you look at Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, AOC [Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez], the entire future of the Democrats is controlled by people without children," the GOP senator also said at the time, per NBC.
