Veteran, father of 7 receives new roof from local company
A surprise visitor brought good news to local father of seven and U.S. Air National Guard veteran Robert Kish. “One day the doorbell rang and my son said, ‘Hey, you better answer the door,’” Mr. Kish said. Andrew Kish, a 20-something journalism student at Bowling Green State University, had entered his father, Robert, into a selection for a free new roof, put on by Freedom Roofing, Windows and Siding LLC. “So I heard about the Freedom Roofing Project through a Facebook post,” Mr. Kish’s middle son said, talking about an application and essay he wrote for the entry back in spring of this year.

Springfield Italian eatery will move to downtown Urbana
Eatly, a seasonal Springfield restaurant, will soon move to a larger location in downtown Urbana and open year-round. The restaurant, which has been open at 601 N. Fountain Ave. since 2021, will be “steps off the square” in Urbana, and while it will continue serving its traditional Sicilian fare, owner Tom Thompson said he will add homestyle foods like baked mac ‘n cheese, baked steaks and homemade chicken and noodles, to the menu. The new location will also have a full bar and an event room.
