H-E-B makes $1 million donation for recovery efforts in Texas Panhandle

LUBBOCK, Texas — H-E-B grocery store announced on Saturday, that H-E-B and Charles Butt will make a $1 million donation to provide support to recovery efforts in the Texas Panhandle as wildfires continue to devastate communities.

H-E-B Chairman Charles Butt made a $500,000 donation to the STAR Fund (State of Texas Agriculture Relief Fund), which aids Texas farmers, ranchers, producers, and agribusiness owners impacted by natural disasters, according to a press release.

H-E-B committed another $500,000 to support recovery efforts and nonprofits responding to the Texas Panhandle wildfires.

For customers who would like to help support relief efforts, H-E-B said it has launched a check stand donation campaign that allows customers to give when checking out in-store at the register.

“Our hearts go out to all those impacted by this disaster, which has grown to become the largest wildfire event in the state’s history,” said Winell Herron, H-E-B Group Vice President of Public Affairs, Diversity, and Environmental Affairs. “At H-E-B, we’re here to serve all Texans. Together with our Chairman and the entire H-E-B family, we will work to ensure affected communities can recover from this tragic event.”
