    Lubbock Garden & Arts Center hosts summer classes for youth and teens

    LUBBOCK, Texas — The Lubbock Municipal Garden & Arts Center will offer a selection of summer youth art classes for students ages 10 to 17 years old throughout the summer of 2024, according to a press release.

    All classes take place at the Garden & Arts Center at 4215 University Avenue. Each class is $100 a person unless specified otherwise.

    Below is a list of the classes that will be offered throughout the summer.

    CLAY : $180 per student for 2 weeks, Class 1: June 3rd – 14th, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Class 2: June 17th – 28th, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Class 3: July 8th – 19th, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

    TEEN IMPROV! July 8th – 12th,1 p.m. -4 p.m.

    Students will learn improv theatre from professionals of West Texas Comedy. In this course, students will develop skills in confidence, comedy, collaboration, stage presence, and much more.

    FUNDAMENTALS OF PRINTMAKING : Class 1: June 3rd – 7th, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m., Class 2: June 17th – 21st, 9 a.m. -12 p.m., Class 3: July 8th – 12th 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.

    Learn the essentials of printmaking, covering matrix creation, ink application, and impression techniques. Learn about various printmaking methods like relief and intaglio. Experiment with different matrices and paper types. Discover the art of editioning and registration in this hands-on class, creating your own unique prints.

    ALTERNATIVE PROCESS PHOTOGRAPHY : Class 1: June 3rd – 7th, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Class 2: June 10th – 14th,1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

    Learn the fundamentals of digital photography, including composing a shot, adjusting camera settings, and using natural light. Explore the art of storytelling through photography and bookmaking. Create your own book.

    DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY & BOOKMAKING : Class 1: June 17th – 21st, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m., Class 2: June 24th – 28th, 1 p.m.- 4 p.m.

    Learn the fundamentals of digital photography, including composing a shot, adjusting camera settings, and using natural light. Explore the art of storytelling through photography and bookmaking. Create your own book.

    Registration and pre-payment will close the week before each class and those on the waitlist will fill any unpaid spots. Registration can be completed through the link here .
