LUBBOCK, Texas — As the one-year mark approaches since the tragic dirt bike crash that claimed the lives of 20-year-old Cash Mullins and his childhood best friend, Cutter Watson, a special scholarship has been established in Mullins’ honor.

The Cash Mullins Scholarship is unique in its approach, reflecting Mullins’ nontraditional path in life. Mullins, who was known for taking the “untraditional route,” graduated early from high school and started working at Wiley Implements.

To honor his legacy, the scholarship is designed to support individuals with a strong passion for agriculture, regardless of their educational or career path.

“What’s so exciting about the Cash Mullins Scholarship is that it’s a nontraditional scholarship,” Alicea Mullins said. “It’s open to ages 15 to 25, including those already in college, attending trade school, or even those who are already employed or self-employed in the agriculture industry.”

Alicea emphasizes that the scholarship seeks candidates who share Cash’s deep love for agriculture.

“We need people who are passionate about agriculture,” she said. “We’re looking for someone who has that same drive and dedication.”

Alicea said that the scholarship application process has already had many great applicants, and selecting just one winner will be challenging. “

There are a lot of amazing applicants already,” Alicea noted. “We’re excited to follow their stories and see how they build on this opportunity.”

Kiera Mullins, Cash’s sister, expressed hope that the scholarship will keep Cash’s memory alive. “This is another way that we will continue making memories with Cash,” she said. “We’ll get to tell his story, and others will get to meet him through this scholarship.”

Interested applicants can apply for the Cash Mullins Scholarship at AgWomenConnect.com . Eligibility extends to anyone with a passion for agriculture, regardless of their current educational or professional status.
