Is Dave’s Hot Chicken still opening in Lubbock?

LUBBOCK, Texas — Back in February 2024, it was reported by EverythingLubbock.com Dave’s Hot Chicken in Lubbock was expected to open by the end of May to mid June. After a few months passed and no word of the famous Nashville-style hot chicken opening, it has left foodies wondering if it’s still coming to the Hub City.

Following the inquiry, EverythingLubbock.com did a project permit routine check on Tuesday.

According to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project permit, Dave’s Hot Chicken was approved for renovation on May 1, 2024. The restaurant will take over the former Taco Bueno located at 6309 82nd Street.

The project completion date was expected to finish by November 2024, said the permit. EverythingLubbock.com also reached out to franchisee Mickey Rogers on Tuesday and was told the completion date is tentative with possibilities of it finalizing in December.

“We are under construction now,” said Rogers.
