He-Brews Coffee celebrates 6-year anniversary

LUBBOCK, Texas — For Hispanic Heritage Month, EverythingLubbock.com is highlighting Hispanic owned businesses in the Lubbock area. HE-BREWS Coffee shop is a local Hispanic owned business celebrating their sixth-year anniversary this month.

“The coffee shop originally started as an idea mentioned at a bible study, but then eventually we were able to bring this idea to life by creating HE-BREWS.” said Victor Flores, HE-BREWS Coffee shop owner.

The coffee shop idea was launched into the making when Flores and his wife made the decision to purchase a radio station. The building purchased was remodeled into HE-BREWS Coffee shop; inside there is an operating radio station 98.7 Walk by Faith Radio. Customers frequently see the radio hosts while working on-air.

HE-BREWS opened their doors in 2018 just before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the nation. Flores added that his business was able to sustain the hardships of the Covid-19 pandemic by everyone involved working hard, creating a successful walk-up window and the support from his daughter and son-in-law.

“La Familia comes together and we help each other,” said Flores. “There were many days when coffee sales were only $50 dollars and now there have been days where sales are a quarter of a million dollars .”

HE-BREWS coffee is proud to announce its 6-year anniversary especially during Hispanic Heritage Month. He encouraged anyone who wants to join the celebration to stop by the coffee shop and order their birthday special, the Coffee Cake Latte.

HE-BREWS Coffee strives to stand apart from different shops by making all their syrups in house as well as making all the bakery items in house. Every month the coffee shop opens its doors to the entire community for free hamburgers and hot dogs. Worship at the Lake is a monthly event where local talent plays and people gather at HE-BREWS for an evening on the lake free of charge every fourth Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. from 7:00 p.m. The coffee shop has also hosted business conferences, baby showers, and engagement proposals.

HE-BREWS Coffee shop is located at 2709 Marshall Street by the Buddy Holly Lake with a relaxing view and walking area. The coffee shop is a spot where many college students have study sessions, bible study groups or meet up with friends and family. The coffee shop strives to provide a comfortable environment for daily coffee stops, a spot to relax or decompress.
