UMC releases more info after ransomware attack causes hospital diversion in Lubbock

LUBBOCK, Texas — After a ransomware attack caused an IT outage at University Medical Center in Lubbock, officials published an update on the hospital’s website .

UMC is still temporarily diverting patients until they announce otherwise. Covenant Health facilities are still open and unaffected by the outage. You can find a list of locations here.

“Our investigation into this incident remains ongoing and will take time to complete,” UMC stated. Officials said “third parties” that have helped other hospitals with similar issues were called to help UMC.

UMC said its healthcare facilities remain “open,” but new patients are still being diverted. UMC Physician Clinics remain open as regularly scheduled.
