Lubbock Compact hosted a Community Clean-up event at Aztlan Park

LUBBOCK, Texas — Lubbock Compact was excited to kick off the first event of their clean-up series at Aztlan Park.

“Today was just the first event where we invited the community to join us at the park and clean up, we gathered and enjoyed being able to appreciate the park we picked up trash and this is only the beginning.” said Joshua Shankles Managing Director of Lubbock Impact.

Shankles added the organization was eager and excited to adopt Aztlan Park through the City’s adopt-a-park program.

The Adopt-a-park program allows the organization to grow and its great opportunity to give back to the community, meet new people, and enjoy the outdoors.

Park Adopters serve as key community representatives for their park by organizing a community-based volunteer group and making an ongoing commitment to improving their park. They also encourage engagement with neighbors and park users and ultimately bring greater innovation and creativity to the park system.

The park clean-up events will include picking up litter, removing debris, and making sure Aztlan Park stays a welcoming space for everyone.

Lubbock compact will prove supplies such as: gloves, trash bags, and other clean-up supplies will be provided. The organization encourages anyone interested in the upcoming clean-up events to follow their page here.
