    2024 Texas Election Guide: how to register to vote in Lubbock

    LUBBOCK, Texas – The 2024 election is quickly approaching.

    Every major state and federal election can leave many with questions or concerns, use this guide to answer any questions about the upcoming 2024 election.

    Oct. 7 is the last day to register to vote or submit an address or name change for the general election.

    To report an address or name change online click here. Reasons to report an address change are: if you’ve moved since the last time you voted, if you moved to a different county or political subdivision or have legally taken a different name.

    If you are not registered to vote in Lubbock County, you will need to complete a Voter Registration application.

    This also applies if you are registered in another Texas County but are now a resident of Lubbock County. Once you are registered in Lubbock County, your registration in your previous county will be automatically cancelled.

    Verify your information and status of voter registration through the Texas Secretary of State’s Website here.

    Voter registration requirements U.S citizens can register to vote if they are 18 or older or if they will be 18 by Election Day.

    Citizens cannot register to vote if they have been convicted of a felony and are still serving a sentence, including a parole of probation, or have been declared by a court mentally incapacitated.

    To submit and complete a paper application to register to vote it must be submitted by Oct. 7.

    Within 30 days after registering to vote you will receive a voter registration certificate. The certificate will have your voter information, your unique voter identifier number.

    Once becoming a registered voter, you remain registered.

    Early Voting begins on Monday, October 21, 2024, through Friday, November 1, 2024.

    Important 2024 Election Dates:

    November 5, 2024 – General Election Dates and Deadlines
    First Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail: Monday, January 1, 2024
    Last Day to Register to Vote for Election: Monday, October 7, 2024
    Early Voting: Monday, October 21, 2024, through Friday, November 1, 2024
    Last Day to Apply for Ballot by Mail (Received, not Postmarked): Friday, October 25, 2024
    Election Day: Tuesday, November 5, 2024

    Lubbock County is always looking for Election Judges and Election Clerks, also known as Poll Workers.

    These positions are temporary and available only during an election cycle. For a full list of qualifications click here.

    Election Workers are paid for the days worked during the election process. The hourly wage depends on the type of election and position. Training compensation is also provided for any classes attended.
