LUBBOCK, Texas —  On Friday, the First Friday Art Trail from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. will feature the exhibition, Celebración.

The Buddy Holly Hall Center’s featured exhibition will explore the history and meaning behind the Mexican holiday Día de los Muertos , or Day of the Dead, a press release mentioned.

LIST: Trunk or Treat events on the South Plains throughout October

The exhibit will include works from local and regional artists who were innovated to create an expression of their interpretation of Día de los Muertos by honoring departed ancestors, friends and family members. Artists are not limited by choice of media or content, but are asked to focus on the unified theme of Mexico’s countries-old ritual of commemorating the death of a loved one.

Over 40 artists contributed to this year’s very colorful display, the release added.

Celebración will be in the Fine Arts Gallery from October 4 through November 17, 2024.
