    Lubbock man pleads guilty to deadly pedestrian crash and avoids prison

    LUBBOCK, Texas — A man arrested for a deadly hit-and-run crash, Sanford R. Jackson, Jr., 27, pleaded guilty to Failure to Stop and Render Aid on Thursday and was sentenced to eight years of probation.

    EverythingLubbock.com previously reported officers were called to the 2100 block of the Marsha Sharp Freeway at 1:12 a.m. on November 9, 2022.

    According to a press release from the Lubbock Police Department, Jamil Wilson, 33, was trying to cross the eastbound lanes of the freeway on foot when he was struck by Jackson’s vehicle.

    “The driver of the motor failed to render aid to Wilson and fled the scene,” the press release said.

    Jackson will also have to pay restitution to the victim’s family in the amount of $4,885.

    Yea,traffic fatalities are way out of control in Lubbock.Now as they are finally starting traffic patrol/stops in targeted areas the PD are blasting it on the news to let the chronic traffic lawbreakers where they will be increasing enforcement.Why in the heck are they doing that.88 stops with 55 just given a warning.BS, give them tickets&protect the LAW ABIDING CITIZENS from these speeders, aggressive drivers and red light runners!!!
