LUBBOCK, Texas — On Sunday, October 10, 1993, 18-year-old Kimberly Groseclose accepted a ride from a truck driver in Lubbock to her home in Round Rock, but she never made it to her destination.

Who killed Barbara Jean Hinojosa in Lubbock? Police are still looking

According to previous reports from authorities, Groseclose’s body was found by a city worker in a field near Loop 289 on December 9. Authorities said she had been strangled.

Note: The Lubbock Police Department released a statement to EverythingLubbock.com regarding two separate homicide cases. The cases are not believed to be related to each other.

While popular culture has coined the term ‘cold case’ in regards to homicides, the Lubbock Police Department wants to remind the public that there is no such belief held within this department. In fact, since its inception, the Lubbock Metropolitan Special Crimes Unit believes whole-heartedly in providing justice not only for victims of homicides, but for the loved ones who are left behind. The men and women who make up this unit are dedicated to those whose voices have been silenced. That dedication is what pushes them to continue to thoroughly scrutinize each case, no matter how much time passed. It is that perseverance that propels the unit to continue to ask for the public’s help in solving the circumstances surrounding the homicides of both Kimberly Gloseclose and Barbara Jean Hinojosa. Metro continues to hold steadfast to the belief that someone in the public holds a key piece of evidence that could help them solve these crimes. Anyone with information about either case is asked to call Crime Line at (806) 741-1000. Callers can remain anonymous
