Are Christmas lights in Lubbock going up earlier?

LUBBOCK, Texas — With people here on the South Plains getting ready for Halloween, in which the kiddos are probably counting down the days until they get to say, “Trick or Treat” and get some candy. And while others are deciding what costumes they will be wearing, there are our folks already setting up for Christmas, including their lights.

The owner of Acme Exteriors told EverythingLubbock.com that people want to get an early start on Christmas.

Bradford said, “We used to see kind of mid-November, and it seems to get earlier and earlier each year. We actually started getting calls in September, so that’s the first. Usually, it’s October, but each year, it starts to get earlier and earlier. And I actually had a client tell me this year that he was actually going to reach out in July to go ahead and start getting things ready to go.”

Bradford said many of his clients have told him they like to have their lights up and glowing because of issues in the past. Bradford said, “By the time November hits, it’s a mad rush. We’ve also run into years past some material shortages.”

Experts say an average-sized home can cost at least $400 for a light installation. Yes, for some, that may be steep, but for others, the price does not faze them because the memories are priceless.

Bradford said, “I remember as a young child how special that was. And so for me to kind of be a part of that, I’ve got I’ve got two young daughters. And so really their favorite thing to do is to go drive around and look at Christmas lights and see all the decor.”
