LUBBOCK, Texas — Gulrez (Gus) Khan, National Delegate of Congressional District 19 and Precinct Chair with Lubbock County Republican Party, was in Wisconsin for the Republican National Convention on Tuesday.

Khan told EverythingLubbock.com he has been in Milwaukee since Sunday and the first day kicked off strong and expects the rest of the convention to be.

Khan said he has been living in the United States for 23 years and has been actively involved with the Lubbock County Republican party for nearly a decade and Khan is a delegate to the RNC.

Khan said, “It’s been a great experience, surreal. It’s a dream come true to be on the floor and to be voting as a national delegate for the next Republican presidential nominee of the United States of America, which in this case is President Donald Trump.”

After supporting former President Trump, in the last two elections, Khan believes he’s the man for the job again.

Khan said, “As we all know, President Trump has been a rock of leadership, a symbol of strength for our party, for our country, as you saw, a few seconds later, he got up and with his fist bump, he said, I said, those words three times spiked. So that gives everybody a lot of courage here at the convention.”

Khan said on day one of the convention, the party talked about economic policies.

Khan said, “So yesterday’s theme was make America wealthy once again. Talk about President America, President Trump’s America First economic policies, which slashed government regulations, had slashed tax cut rates, the tax rates and reworked trade deals to create a fair playing field for the American industry and workers.”

But many like Khan were excited to see the former president make his first appearance, following Saturday’s attempted assassination in Pennsylvania.

Khan said, “It was, as I said, know, the whole room exploded and it was electrifying. And I was actually able to walk, make my way through where I was ten feet away from him, and I was able to see him. He looked to me very also very sharp looking man and very confident, ready to serve as our next president.”

Khan said that Trump showing up after a traumatic event means a lot to the republican party.

Khan said, “The resilience of the I would say the comeback and the strength President Trump has shown and the Republican leadership has shown is phenomenal. So this will enhance the spirit of patriotism and the spirit of nationalism amongst Americans because what happened on Saturday, is just not a Republican Party or Democrat Party. This is an American issue.”

Lubbock County Republican Party Chairman, David Bruegel said he believes this year’s convention will help the former President’s campaign in a big way.

Bruegel said, “I expect President Trump to continue his campaign even stronger than before with greater resolve. I think going forward, we’re going to see continued resolve on the part of the electorate. I think an issue like this is really going to drive even more interest in the election.”

Khan said he was honored to even be there.

Khan said, “I still believe, you know, the greatest blessing God can shower upon anybody is to have been born in the United States of America. This is what my speech was during the state convention, which got me elected to the national delegates and again, I love my motherland India. But at the same time, it’s a blessing.”

Khan said, he is grateful and blessed for all those who have influenced his life to be there at the convention like his dad, Dr. Gocha, uncle, Dr. Raj Sabar along with mentors an individuals such as:
