Bridge repair work reaches East Loop 289, traffic delays expected

LUBBOCK, Texas—The Texas Department of Transportation warned the public that traffic will be delayed on Friday due to repairs to East Loop 289.

According to TxDOT, contractors are scheduled to remove barricades, reopen all lanes and shift work onto the eastbound frontage road bridge at I-27.

Bridge Maintenance and repairs are set to start on the eastbound south Loop 289 frontage road bridge over I-27. The roadwork will require the southbound I-27 frontage road cloverleaf ramps to be closed, and drivers will be redirected to 82nd Street.

“Motorists can expect various lane closures on the eastbound frontage road bridge, should anticipate traffic delays and are urged to slow down and use caution when driving through the work zones since crews will be working in close proximity to traffic,” TxDOT said.
