West Texas A&M Buffs to compete in NCAA Division II National Championships May 23-25

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The West Texas A&M University track and field team is set to compete in the NCAA Division II National Championship with the number three men’s and number five women’s team in the nation.

The event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 p.m. on May 23 in Emporia, Kansas. The championship will feature three days of competition between the best college track and field athletes in the nation.

WT will have a total of 28 athletes competing at the national meet, 14 Buffs and 14 Lady Buffs.

The men and women look to cap off amazing seasons with national titles, the Buffs have been runner-ups for three consecutive years and the Lady Buffs won their last title in 2022.

According to WT the meet schedule includes:

Thursday

• 10:30 p.m. CT — Decathlon (Prelims)
• 11:00 a.m. CT. — Heptathlon (Prelims)
• 2:30 p.m. — Long Jump to kick off individual events
• 4:50 p.m. — 4×100 relay (Prelims) to kick off running events

Friday

• 9:30a.m. — The decathlon and heptathlon to finish their final events at 1:30 p.m.
• 3:30 p.m. — High Jump
• 5:30 p.m. — Men’s 200m prelims

Saturday

• Saturday will consist of all final events and team podiums
