Ronald McDonald House of Amarillo honors Hereford restaurant as ‘Round-Up for RMHC Champion’

HEREFORD, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Ronald McDonald House Charities of Amarillo announced that it will make a stop in Hereford on Wednesday afternoon to celebrate its local McDonald’s crew’s achievements as the “Round-Up for RMHC Champion” for the second quarter of 2024.

According to RMHC officials, the Hereford store competed against 24 other area McDonald’s restaurants during the challenge and raised $2,293 from April through June. In total, the area businesses raised $13,006 for the donation drive, including stores across the Texas Panhandle and High Plains region.

“When McDonald’s customers Round-Up their change, it creates real change for the families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House in Amarillo,” said RMHC officials, “While the average Round-Up amount was just 43 [cents], the total funds raised are enough to provide 130 nights of lodging to families of children traveling to Amarillo to receive medical treatment.”

RMHC said that the McDonald’s of Hereford crew credited their success to running a “Thankful Thursday” campaign each week to highlight gratitude and encourage visitors to donate.

Deaf Smith County has continued to be one of the top-served communities each year for the RMHC, according to officials, with the charity noting it provided 53 nights of comfort and support to Hereford families during the second quarter of 2024.
