    Man sentenced to 45 years in Moore County after home burglary

    MOORE COUNTY, TX (KAMR/KCIT) — According to a release by the 69th Judicial District Attorney’s office of Texas, Richard Vance Santana of Dumas was found guilty and sentenced to 45 years in prison by a Moore County jury for “Burglary of a Habitation.”

    Officials stated in the release that Santana broke into the apartment of a Dumas woman intending to assault her. When the woman’s roommate, who identified Santana as her co-worker, unexpectedly came home, officials said she found Santana holding a knife after having torn up the woman’s clothing.

    Officials with the district attorney’s office also noted that he was enhanced as a habitual offender by the state due to Santana’s previous prison trips and additionally, the state requested the jury find that a deadly weapon was used during the commission of the offense.

    Officials stated that Santana was sentenced to 45 years in prison with the affirmative finding of a deadly weapon, making him first eligible for parole after serving half of his sentence.
