CANYON, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – Officials with Palo Duro Canyon State Park said Monday morning that the park headquarters and trails were closed, though the park at large was still considered open.

According to two separate Facebook posts made by park officials on Monday morning, the trails were closed due to rain the park has received and to prevent erosion along with the park headquarters now being closed due to a vehicle colliding with the headquarters.

The post detailed the headquarters was closed due to the structural damage made by the vehicle and park officials will be operating out of a shack to the right of headquarters. Park officials stated that Palo Duro Canyon State Park was still open on Monday and the entrance to the park was safe and accessible to all incoming visitors despite closures.
