CLOVIS, N.M. (KAMR/KCIT) — Officials with Curry County announced that it was awarded with the “FY25 New Mexico Clean & Beautiful Grant,” totaling $8,350 to help implement litter control and beautification projects in Curry County.

According to Curry County press release, the New Mexico Tourism Department made this opportunity available.

Officials detailed that the mission of New Mexico Clean & Beautiful grant is to inspire and educate people to act every day to improve and beautify their community environment.

The county added that the NMCB grant will help the county accomplish this mission by using the funds to partner with the Retried Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) that beautifies public spaces and facilitates litter clean-up events for youth groups in the area.

“Curry County has had a strong partnership with NM Clean and Beautiful for over 25 years and we will be expanding on that by working with the RSVP Program to enhance and beautify the County Administrative Complex with planters and plants for the public to enjoy and the continued partnership with funding to pay school, sports and other youth groups for little clean ups throughout Curry County.” said County Manager Lance Pyle.

Curry County said by utilizing beautification, litter reduction, and recycling, communities have been able to build and maintain appealing public spaces, remove pounds of trash, recycle waste that would have ended up in landfills, and learned the value of having a clean, green, and beautiful place to live.

For residents who are interested in a litter pick up event with a goal to raise funds for local school, sports and other youth groups or need more information about the grant program contact Curry County Administration at 575-763-6016.
