    City of Borger officials inform residents of road closure due to hazardous incident

    UPDATE: at 9:36 p.m.

    The City of Borger / Hutchinson County OEM reported that roads are now open and the Texas Department of State Health Services reported that all readings are normal.

    AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The City of Borger / Hutchinson County OEM informed residents that Highway 136 North of the circle from Beverly Hills to FM 1559 will be closed temporarily.

    According to City of Borger / Hutchinson County OEM social media post, the roadway will be temporarily closed as a precaution due to hazardous material in the area.

    The post read that there was a wreck involving a transporter known to carry radioactive materials. Officials confirmed that, “The risk of outside exposure to this vehicle is low, and there are no homes in the immediate area.”

    Borger officials added that residents will likely see first responders on scene wearing specialized Personal protective equipment working to clear the roadway.
