CYPRESS, Texas (KIAH) — Cy-Fair ISD parents could deal with more issues at the pickup line, as the district cuts bus routes to save some cash.

Video showed Cy-Fair High School and Arnold Middle School, where there were long lines of people trying to pick up students.

Monday was the first day that many parents had to figure out their kids’ transportation schedule after dozens of routes were cut to save money.

Cy-Fair ISD is facing a budget shortfall of nearly $140 million and has cut 79 bus routes from last year to save the district money. Trustees say the route cuts will save them just under $5 million.

At a board meeting last week, some CFISD trustees apologized to parents for not releasing the changes to the transportation plan earlier than they did.

According to the district, exceptions are made if students must cross certain roads. The district also encourages parents to use the My Ride K-12 website to find their students’ bus stop.
