Texas Panhandle War Memorial to host War of the Wagons

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Panhandle War Memorial announced that it is partnering with the Amarillo VA and Easy Thoughts Counseling to host the first ‘War of the Wagons’ event.

According to officials, the free, family-friendly event will occur at the Texas Panhandle War Memorial on Sept. 28 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Officials also noted that the event focuses on veterans and their mental health.

Further, food trucks from Amarillo can register to be included in the event by clicking here. A “Warrior” of the year will be crowned for the breakfast sandwich, specialty plate, and dessert.

Activities and booths provided at the event include:

• Live music;
• Bouncy houses;
• Corn hole;
• Face painting;
• Mental health booths; and
• Lectures and presentations;

Raffle tickets can also be purchased online here for $25 or five for $100 to win a .50 Cal. Gemmer & Clemens Plains Rifle, along with a hand-crafted bowie knife and sheath. The winner does not need to be present to receive the prize.

Further, officials noted the event is sponsored by Heroes Home Care, SSGMAT, Schooler Funeral Home and Northwest Texas Hospital.
