AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Turn Center is inviting the community to participate in a day of fun and fundraising on the greens. The center will host its 3rd annual Golf Classic at the Amarillo Country Club at 4800 Bushland Boulevard on Sept. 30.

The tournament check-in starts at noon and the shotgun is set to begin at 1 p.m.

According to Kelisha Murray, Turn Center director of donor guidance and occupational therapist, sponsor and player opportunities are available for the upcoming tournament.

“We’ve got lots of really great sponsors already,” Murray said. “But we have a few left and some player options if you want to have a team. You can also sponsor a tee box. We have some really great opportunities to get involved.”

Murray said the proceeds from the Golf Classic benefit Turn Center, which is the area’s only nonprofit providing pediatric therapy services for children with special needs and developmental delays.

“We provide occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy,” she said. “We also have counseling both for the kid and the family and siblings. The really cool thing about Turn Center is that we also have a family empowerment group. We do things like Kids Inclusion which is an adaptive sports program. We have other events like Breakfast with Santa. We do Trunk or Treat. We have Parents Night Out. There are some really cool ways that we are looking to find ways to give our families hope outside of just the therapy realm.”

According to Murray, events like the Golf Classic wouldn’t be possible without the community.

“It’s really exciting,” she said. “Being able to see how incredible our community is and how generous the donors are here. Being able to interact with them is really, really special.”
