Temple, TX (FOX 44) — The brewery industry is thriving and it’s a great economic opportunity for local businesses.

The Texas Craft Brewers Guild rolled out this year to highlight Texas itself as a craft beer destination and help with tourism. One stop that caught their eye is Temple.

Temple offers a unique experience with local craft brews and plenty of space for those looking to become the newest brew in town.

The Bold Republic Brewing hand makes their own beers! Owner Adriane Hodges describes it as a chemistry experiment.

“It just really highlights the local flavors, the local feel you get for a place. So, hopefully it sends more people who are coming to Temple or the people who are already here a chance to explore what we have to offer as a community. And I think it’s really special,” says owner of Bold Republic Brewing, Adriane Hodges.

According to Texas Craft Brewers Guild, the Lone Star State has over 400 breweries and contributes almost $5 billion annually to the Texas economy.

“Craft beer is $1,000,000,000 industry in Texas, and we bring in a ton of tourism. Our goal is to make the finest beer in the country,” says Adriane.

Owner Patrick Hodges says the business started off as a hobby. He was brewing beer right from his home.

“We went to a beer fest and saw this long line of people getting beer from a beer truck. I peeked in the back and there was the same equipment I was using to make beer in the garage, but these people were making a living off it. And I thought, ‘I can do this. Why don’t we do this?’,” says owner of Bold Republic Brewing, Patrick Hodges.

Taking this risk was a bold move for Bold Republic Brewing, but it paid off by winning an award for best beer in the state.

“When you look around, it’s people like me. It’s a lot of small business owners. You’re helping feed our families, employ people in your local community. So, drawing attention to that and sending more customers our way. It’s a really positive industry and all this can do is probably bring more positive change,” says Adriane.

The City of Temple says it’s a fantastic opportunity for the city to expand and thrive in the brewery industry.
