State Fair of Texas announced 2024 Big Tex Choice Award winners

Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Today, the State Fair of Texas released its 2024 Big Tex Choice Awards winners crowning the best food creations that will be featured at this years fair.

The contest is made up of three different categories determining which creations are the “Best Taste – Savory ,” the “Best Taste – Sweet ,” and the “Most Creative.”

• Winner of the “Best Taste – Savory” — Dominican Fritura Dog

The Dominican Fritura Dog features Dominican salami and fritura cheese then it’s double deep-fried in corn dog batter. The food is then topped with garlic plantain chips, Dominican sauce and cilantro.

• Winner of the “Best Taste – Sweet” — Rousso’s Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick

The Rousso’s Cotton Candy Bacon on a Stick, features a thick-cut bacon with a cotton candy glaze, and more cotton candy from the machine to finish.

• Winner of the “Most Creative” — Texas Sugar Rush Pickles

Texas Sugar Rush Pickles features cotton-candy-flavored pickle slices topped with Lucky Charms, Froot Loops and Cap’n Crunch with sprinkled in cotton candy, cotton candy sugar crystals and powdered sugar. The dish is then topped with strawberry sundae syrup and a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
