TxDOT Amarillo ‘Know Before You Go’ report for the week of Aug. 26

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Texas Department of Transportation Amarillo District released its “Know Before You Go” report for lane closures and detours expected during the week of Aug. 26.

According to TxDOT, road closures and detours expected for the week include:

Monday

— Expect various lane closures on FM 2381 from IH-40 to just north of Bushland High School as crews perform maintenance operations, until Wednesday, Aug. 28.

— From 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., crews will close the right lane of northbound IH-27 near mile marker 112 to the McCormick Road exit for continued work on the IH-27 widening project between Amarillo and Canyon.

The following exit/entrance ramps will be closed during this time:

• Entrance ramp north of Rockwell Road
• Exit ramp 112 (Exit to FM 221)
• Entrance ramp just north of FM 2219

The work is expected to be completed by Wednesday, August 28.

Throughout the Week

— Expect various lane closures in both directions of IH-40 at BNSF Railyard as crews continue to perform bridgework. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Aug. 30.

The following entrance and exit ramps will be closed intermittently during this time:

• Southbound US 287 to eastbound IH-40 entrance ramp
• Northbound IH-27 to eastbound IH-40 entrance ramp
• Westbound IH-40 to northbound US 287 exit ramp
• Westbound IH-40 to southbound IH-27 exit ramp
• Southbound US 287 to westbound IH-40 entrance ramp

The Crockett Street bridges in both directions of IH-40 will be reduced to two lanes as crews begin replacing the bridge deck. The work is expected to be completed in early 2025.

— Expect various lane closures on the east and westbound frontage roads near Hope Road and IH-40 on Monday, Aug. 26 and Tuesday, Aug. 27 for concrete barrier installation. Once completed, crews will switch over to the IH-40 main lanes. The work is expected to be completed by Friday, Aug. 30.

TxDOT advised drivers to be cautious and reduce speed through all work zones, and be aware of possible crews or working vehicles on or near the roadways.
