Amarillo Crime Stoppers held 16th annual Car Show Saturday

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Amarillo Crime Stoppers and Student Crime Stoppers of Amarillo hosted their annual car show at the Civic Center today.

This event is not only a way to look at some cool cars but also a way to support both programs working to stop crime in Amarillo.

“We’ve done it annually for the past 16 years, and it’s a way for us to be able to get in the community, share with the community, get some new community involvement, and also to raise money for it to help operate both programs,” said Jarrod Roberston Student Crime Stoppers Police Coordinator.

He added that it is great to see the community come out every year to support the programs.

“It brings the community together. You know, it gets our names out there. It helps us push our message of what we’re here and what we’re about. And it, you know, in the community, the community loves us,” said Roberston.

According to Roberston Student Crime Stoppers of Amarillo serves four counties, nine school districts, and around 53,000 total students.

“So with student crime stoppers, it gives the kids an anonymous way to report crime in their community and their schools, without the fear of cause or retaliation anything. It gives them a way to report something that way they can go to school, be safe, and be assured that they’re safe,” said Roberston.
