Tracking more storms and hot weather

Another afternoon of unseasonably hot weather is instore for the area. Temperatures look to head back into the 90’s with Amarillo topping out near 94. Also, according to our high-resolution model guidance, a narrow line of thunderstorms will develop after 4 pm on a line from Follett to Pampa, Panhandle, Amarillo, Canyon, Tulia and Plainview. The cells will move eastward, exiting the Texas Panhandle after midnight. A few of the storms that form could produce sudden strong gusty winds, pockets of hail, and brief heavy downpours.

Tomorrow and Friday might see a few afternoon and evening thunderstorms, while Saturday could turn out to be wet with numerous showers and storms. Regarding temperatures, the 90’s will continue through Friday, followed by the 80’s for Saturday, and the windy and cool 70’s on Sunday (the first day of autumn)!
