    Arrest made after fatal Wednesday shooting

    AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo Police Department released more information regarding a shooting that occurred in northwest Amarillo on Wednesday evening.

    According to officials from APD, at approximately 4:37 p.m., officers from the Amarillo Police Department were dispatched to the 2200 block of SW 7th in response to reports of a shooting. Officials noted that officers discovered that 40-year-old Anthony Dewayne Dunn had suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency medical officials.

    APD officials stated that the suspect fled the scene on foot and the APD Homicide Unit then began an investigation which led to the issuance of a murder warrant for 25-year-old Keon Trashone Mathis. Mathis was then apprehended during a traffic stop in Childress by the Childress Police Department, according to officials.

    Mathis was then booked into the Childress County Detention Center.

    APD stated that the investigation remains ongoing and encourages those with additional information related to this incident to contact the Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit at 806-378-9468.

    According to APD, The Amarillo Police Homicide Unit is investigating a shooting in the 2200 block of SW 7th. Police said one person is dead and the suspect is unknown.

    APD said it would provide information when it is available.
