Amarillo National Tennis Center recognizes sectional champions

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — A men’s tennis team that recently captured the Men’s 4.0 2024 USTA League Sectional Championship and that calls the Amarillo National Tennis Center home will compete for a national championship.

According to city officials, the team defeated teams from Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio to achieve the Sectional Championship.

“It’s exciting to watch tennis players who consistently practice at our facility achieve a high level of success on a regional level,” said Dustin Almond, the Amarillo National Tennis Center Manager. “We are incredibly proud of the team’s achievement and look forward to seeing them compete on a national level.”

Officials stated that team members include:

• William Manhkong;
• Isaac Reynolds;
• Tucker Haynes;
• Juan Pacheco;
• Aaron Schrick;
• Matt Coggins;
• Leonardo Martinez;
• Damon Wilson;
• David Eck;
• Jeff Flores; and
• Taylor Vigil.

City officials stated the team has qualified for the national championships in Surprise, Ariz., which will be held from Oct. 18-20. Those wishing to follow the team’s journey to nationals can visit the UTSA website.
